I recently returned to the US after 10 years of full time missionary service in Haiti. I am very excited to see Jean Johnson's new book, "We are not the Hero" now available through the WMA website. Jean's book was invaluable to me in preparing to transition my missionary work in Haiti into the hands of reliable indigenous leaders.
ReplyDeleteThanks to the help of Jean and the principles and methods outlined in her book, today the Haitian leadership team is continuing the work we began together in Haiti without my presence. Also, instead of looking to me for leadership and funding, they are now looking directly to the Lord more and more to provide their every need for direction and material provision.
Jean's book helped build my faith as well as give me practical wisdom to be able to transition our work fully into the hands of national leaders. If you're tired of "missions as usual" and want to begin to see your work with a paradigm that views missionary participation as "temporary" instead of "permanent" and utilizing "local" verses "international" resources, then this book is a must read for you!
